About Markham

The Challenge
Initially, Markham were entangled in a web of systems with heavy reliance on Smartsheets. This was manual and time-consuming and not an effective use of time.
As the team expanded into the higher 30s, it became harder to track all the different systems for each facet of their people operations. There was the potential for things to get overlooked or forgotten. The impact was that tasks were taking longer than the needed and there was a possibility of process inconsistency across different staff and teams.
The Solution
The team at Markham did extensive research on different HRIS systems and landed on BambooHR as their preferred system. This was based on the layout, options, and coverage of all people related data.
Being able to work across New Zealand and Australia operations was also critical for the organisation, with employees seeing only the fields relevant to them. Having local support and a trial account also contributed to their decision.

As staff numbers grew, having a single source of truth for people data enabled the team to easily add, track and update when needed, especially with teams across New Zealand and Australia.

Automating repetitive tasks for onboarding and offboarding new hires and existing employees streamlined operations, freeing up valuable time and resources. The introduction of a live checklist feed allowed the HR team to effortlessly track progress, identify priorities and be on top of the onboarding and offboarding process.

The Performance Management module has been instrumental in driving their values and policies to improve culture, productivity and professionalism across the board. The automation built-in to the performance module means it operates seamlessly in the background, allowing the team to implement it once and trust in its ongoing efficacy.
